Gummy Bear Osmosis

 Mhoro Amazing Readers,

Today I'm going to be sharing with you a blog post about Gummy Bear Osmosis. This is another SCIENCE EXPERIMENT in our Science class. We had to be in a group of 6. The people I was with were Divine(AKA Me),Michaela,Tiana,Letitia-Ann,Olivia and Shakala. We are also learning about the meaning of Diffusion in liquids. We are also learning about Osmosis. Here are the steps

Aim:

I want to find out what happens to Gummy Bears when we put them into different solution.

Predictions:I predict  that they will dissolve

Method:

Equipment

  • 4x Gummy Bears of the same colour
  • 2x petri dishes
  • paper towels
  • marker pen
  • Water
  • Sugar water
  • Salt water
  • Electronic balance
  • Beaker
  • Measuring Cylinder
Instructions

  1. Get your equipment.
  2. Put on your safety glasses.
  3. Using the marker pen, write the name of the condition on the petri dish.  DRY,  WATER, SALTWATER,  SUGAR WATER.
  4. Weigh the Gummy Bear and write the weight on the petri dish.
  5. Measure 40mL of solution and pour it into the petri dish.

Discussion
Osmosis:

1.The normal water was transferred into the gummy bear the most.

2.The dry gummy bear lost 0-11 grams over a week.

3.The sugar water diffused faster than the salt water.

Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. Diffusion happens in liquids and gases because their particles move randomly from place to place. Diffusion is an important process for living things; it is how substances move in and out of cells.

Hurumanu 1 Blog Prep Heroes

Mhoro Amazing Readers,

Today I'm going to be posting a blog about about all the heroes I've learnt of so far. In my class we had to make a hard copy on a document but we first did on a piece of printed piece of paper and write the answers on the sheet with a pencil. After that we had to make a hard copy of it as a paragraph and post it on my blog. Here is my work.

In Nga tangata, Hurumanu 1 we studied the lives of some local, national and international Heroes.A hero is a male or female or group of people who. The meaning of a hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.I made slides about 6 heroes. They were Chelsea Bremner,David Ambler,Valerie Kasanita Adams,Steven Funaki Adams,Serena Jameka Williams,Usain St Leo Bolt.I also made some slides about a local hero who achieved-In Sprinting his name is David Ambler. Ambler’s personal best Time of 10.35 for the 100 metres was the NZ Jr record until it was broken in Christchurch. We read about a musical group called Crowded House,They were said to be ‘Heroes for one Day!’ when they performed in Christchurch recently. We discussed the meaning of ‘Hero Worship’.  The Hero I Worship is Jesus Christ. Earthquake heroes I researched were-It was researched at stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/6459257/our-heroes-earthquake- awards Here are 10 Superheroes from the earthquake 2011. Air Force Museum,Alison Gallant,Alison Partridge,Amo Perelini,Lucas Perelini,Andrea Cummings,Andrea Robinson,Andrew Anderson,Anja Jansen, Ashley M Vickers. I also wrote about myself as a superhero. My Alias was Mrs Puffy Afro. Here is my story: Hi,My name is Mrs Puffy Afro. I’m a superhero and I live in Zimbabwe, Africa. My day is always fun and exciting because I get paid for my job and get as many chicken nuggets as I want if I complete my work. My favourite colour is purple and my favourite subject is maths. I’m 10 years old but I was born 6 May 2010 and I’m turning 11 this year in 2021. I’m a year 7 in school and can’t wait for my birthday because I only get a day of the job on my birthday, and I’m also a Spy and A Ninja and my spy name is Agent 31, and guess what I love watching Spy Ninjas on Youtube. Regina and Vy are my favourites because Regina’s Clumsy and loves chicken nuggets just like me and me and Vy are short and both like spicy food but at the end yellows my 2nd favourite colour but I hate the colour pink eww it’s just gross and so bright.Like what about purple? purple's a good colour to because I know almost 20 people who like the colour purple. But as a Spy Ninjas Chad is Red, Vy is Pink, Regina is Yellow, Melvin is green and Daniel is Blue. But I hope you liked my story and now know a lot about me bye.

Thank you for reading my blog. Please comment and have an amazing day.

Changing States of Matter

 Mohua Everyone,

Today In my Science Class Our Science Teacher told us to buddy up in a group of three. I budded up with Victoria and Malama. The States of Matters have 3 states that are Liquids, Solids and Gas.

Here are some Instruction we were given.

1st we put the some Ice in a beaker. Water is 100 degrees when it boils and 0 Degrees when it Frozen Ice.

1: Ice is placed in the beaker on the bench. Record it's Temperature.

2: Once the Ice has thawed, the Bunsen burner is set up with the tripod, gauze mat, heatproof mat and beaker.

3: The Bunsen Burner is lit.

4: The thermometer is placed in the beaker of water.

5: The findings are recorded on the chart

Aim: To change the states of water from solid to liquid to gas.

Hypothesis: I think that it will take 2 min for the Ice to melt.

Equipment:

1: Beaker

2: Ice

3: Thermometer

4: Bunsen Burner

My Ice Temp went to 40 and took a time to melt.

Thank you for looking at my blog. Please comment and have a nice day.

Aim: To use water to extract the dye from skittles using the process for chromatography.

Materials:

1. 5 skittles

2. Water

3. Petri Dish

4. Beaker

Process:

Step 1: Place the skittles into the petri dish around the edges.

Step 2: Pour 100ml water gently into the middle of the petri dish.

Step 3: Wait for the colours to go in the middle .

Science Hands On Fire👐 🔥

Hola Amazing Readers

Aim:

I want to SAFELY light my hands of fire.(I really don't this is just for my science class)

Before we do this activity safely we need to be aware of the safety features.

Activity:In Pairs you need to come up with a list of 5 items that need to be considered when doing this.

Instructions

  1. Collect your equipment.
  2. Put some water into the tray.
  3. Squirt some detergent into the water.
  4. Put on your safety glasses.
  5. Tie up any long hair.

  10. Hold the bubbles in front of your face with your arms locked.
So we tried this Science experiment and a lot of people said that it hurt's or that it's very hot. I didn't do it because I was scared that I might burn myself. It looked cool and fun at first but when people said it was hot and burned I just didn't do it. we also took some videos of some people and it smelled like ham to me. Some people were scared when they did it but at the end they thought it was fun.

                                                          Here is a short 2 videos I took😁

Thank you for looking at my blog please comment and have a nice day.
( No one got hurt in the making of this Science Experiment)
